Week 16 of 52 - Moss on a log
Last weekend we went out to a family lake house at Lake Tenkiller. After a 10 minute walk down a nature trail I couldn't find anything really unique to shoot. My plan was to do a long exposure day shot, but it didn't work out. Maybe for week 17.

Yep, we love bathtime
This is an extension of my week 8 Project 52 post. There were just so many dramatic faces and splashes to pass up the opportunity.

Project 52 - Week 8: Bathtime
The most fun I have had on this project 52 adventure is when I have shot photography of something quick that just came out as a cool picture as opposed to a picture setup.
While weeks one and two were fun, weeks like this are even better.
Check back later this week to see the rest of the photos I took of this joyous occasion. You can see all of my photography on my Flickr page.

Week 7 of 52: Generations
This photo is inspired by my Grandfather's 79 birthday. He was taken out of school well before high school. He was raised extremely poor and spent his days picking cotton. When he was barely a teenager he followed my grandmother to South Texas when her family moved. They married at a very young age and they have been married for around 65 years. He ran a business for 35 years, has five daughters and a lot of grandkids and great grandkids. It's really an incredible story that I have dramatically shortened.

Dog Kisses
The dogs have grown very fond of licking Paxton.
What does Paxton think? Eh, not so much.
Sticker is working on his ups.
And we also found out that dogs and cats can coexist. Perhaps the centuries old battle is coming to an end.

What those pets are up to
You might recall when we got Boston Pugsley a few months ago. Friends and family are always asking what he looks like now. Apparently he looked a bit strange as a puppy. Not much has changed.
He's still pretty weird. We were told he was a Bug (Boston Terrier and Pug mix). But he's more of freak of nature than anything else.
Scarlett has been getting some compliments on the weight she lost. That was the reason we got Boston. She was just lying on the back porch getting fat as she refused to move around. It was almost like a sit in protest. She wouldn't move until she came in and then she acted like she was on crack.
Sticker is a weird cat. At our old house he would roam all over the neighborhood. We moved here and now he barely leaves the backyard. Who has a backyard cat?
They all hangout in the backyard. The two older ones like to lay around while Boston terrorizes both of them and keeps them in shape.

Photos of the lake in the dead of winter
I had mentioned in my Week 3 post that I would post a few more pictures of our Lake Hefner excursion.

We all had a great time. It was about 55 and sunny. With the track that goes around the lake it makes for quite a crowd.

I spent so much time trying to get the lighthouse photo to work. So, I missed a lot of other opportunity for good pictures.

I was trying to use a density filter to get some long exposure shots in daylight however I'm pretty new to this filter so it wasn't working out that well.

You can see more on our trip from Caitlynne's blog.

A Bright Christmas
This Christmas was a benchmark for our new family. It was Paxton's first Christmas.
As a family we did several things together including driving around and seeing some pretty incredible Christmas light displays.
Which involves parking the car in front of people's house which is kind of creepy.
There was some photo taking of course.
We built a Gingerbread house which is ridiculously harder than it looks.
And of course there were Christmas presents.
He wasn't huge on opening presents, but we were pretty excited about some of his gifts.

Meet the Huckabas
One of my aunts asked that I take some family photos when they came up from Texas for Thanksgiving.
We were planning on going to Hafer Park in Edmond but we took the pictures on Thanksgiving morning, so we didn't have a lot of time.
I wanted to do some shots that weren't so traditional, but there are not a lot of poses for a "grown up" family without getting corny. So, I focused on backgrounds to keep it a bit more modern as opposed to traditional.
It was a lot of fun.
But a reminder of how special family is... Even brothers and sisters.
And of course, Mom and Dad.

It's scary how fast he's growing
Paxton has survived his first Halloween. And for someone who will have no memory of it he sure was in costume and making lots of visits. It all started with some family pumpkin carving.
And as expected, Caitlynne took lots of pictures of him (let's hope that a study doesn't come out that announces health defects because of overexposure to being in front of a camera).
And of course we dressed him up for Halloween.
He was a pumpkin...
Actually that wasn't his costume. Since he rolls around and tries to chew on paper and eats whatever is put in front of him without question, what would be more appropriate?
He got to hang out with his friends where there was more exploitation of children in costumes.
We also do a work Halloween party where everyone's kids get to come up to the office.
